Key Responsibilities
  • Commercial Sales
  • Pharmaceutical Marketing/Distribution Teams Management
  • Regulatory Affairs

Liaison with: Senior Leadership Team, Donors, Partners, Regulators, and Auditors

Key accountabilities
1) Commercial strategy, P&L ownership, and business sustainability
Develop annual commercial strategy and business plans with revenue, margin, and market growth targets.
Build and operationalise cost-recovery models for donor-supported programming and beyond donor cycles.
Lead pricing strategy, customer segmentation, key account management, and profitability optimisation; monitor margins and KPIs by product line and customer segment.

 

2) Sales execution and social marketing leadership 
Direct field sales operations (targets, territories, incentives, performance management) and lead end-to-end marketing (demand generation, campaigns, positioning).
Build relationships with government, implementers, NGOs, private sector channels, and key accounts to drive uptake and distribution.
Maintain weekly sales reviews and monthly dashboards to drive delivery discipline.

 

3) Pharmaceutical services, regulatory compliance, and quality 
Lead product registration/renewals and submissions to NAFDAC and relevant regulators; maintain zero regulatory breaches.
Implement quality assurance, good distribution practices, and pharmacovigilance systems and reporting.
Oversee forecasting, supply planning, inventory oversight, distribution channels, and market intelligence reporting.

 

4) Supply Chain Strengthening and Distribution Optimisation 
Lead end-to-end supply chain strategy for RMNCAH+N/SRH and lifestyle product portfolios (forecasting, procurement planning (where applicable), inventory control, warehousing, distribution, and last-mile delivery) to ensure product availability and minimise stock-outs/expiries.
Establish and continuously improve S&OP/forecasting routines, demand planning, and replenishment processes using market intelligence, consumption data, and sales pipelines.
Strengthen distributor and 3PL performance through SLAs, KPIs, route optimisation, and compliance with Good Distribution Practices (GDP) and quality standards.
Implement supply chain performance dashboards (e.g., OTIF, fill rate, inventory turns, expiry rate, lead times), and drive corrective actions with internal teams and partners.

 

5) Partnerships, distribution rights, and market growth (Nigeria and West Africa) 
Identify, structure, and negotiate partnerships with commercial distributors, MNCH/SRH implementers, and private sector actors, including revenue-sharing models where partners may retain impact reporting.
Secure distribution rights and commercial relationships for priority products/brands and expand footprint across priority geographies. Build a clear West Africa expansion pathway (route-to-market, regulatory sequencing, channel strategy, partner selection).

 

6) Investor and market-facing leadership (commercial financing and scale) 
Originate and manage relationships with for-profit investors, strategic manufacturers, distributors, and market-shaping partners, package and present investable growth cases for product lines and service platforms.
Develop scalable commercial service lines (e.g., supply chain advisory, market access, last-mile distribution optimisation) aligned to WCAHealth’s MNCH/SRH portfolio.

 

7) People leadership and organisational development 
·Recruit, lead, and coach a high-performing commercial team; build SOPs, training systems, and a performance-driven culture.
Qualifications and Experience
  • B.Pharm and MBA required; MPH is an advantage.
  • Registered Pharmacist with PCN; eligible to practise in Nigeria.
  • Minimum 10+ years commercial leadership experience in pharmaceuticals/health, FMCG, or social marketing, with proven sales leadership and partnership track record.
  • Strong understanding of NAFDAC and regulatory processes, market analytics, regulatory compliance, and end-to-end supply chain (manufacturer to last mile). Demonstrated competence in P&L management, pricing, and commercial decision-making.
  • Strong West Africa market exposure (routes-to-market, distribution ecosystems, cross-border regulatory and partner dynamics).

  • Approve pricing/discounting within MD/CEO thresholds; approve sales targets/incentives and regional deployment; sign commercial MOUs within delegated limits; approve marketing plans and launch schedules.
